Programme for young entrepreneurs to be expanded

Patch, an accelerator programme for young entrepreneurs, has announced an all-island expansion.

The initiative is open to 16-21-year-olds in Ireland and Northern Ireland and has received a new three-year funding commitment from the NDRC, Ireland’s national startup accelerator programme.

Patch was established as a non-profit organisation in 2018 to develop and nurture entrepreneurial and technologically-minded young people.

The initiative is backed by online payments firm Stripe and by Dogpatch labs and aims to identify high-potential students and expose them to an entrepreneurial mindset.

The organisation runs a summer accelerator programme where young people build projects and learn from successful entrepreneurs, researchers and engineers.

Patch has also announced the appointment of Jack O’Regan Kenny as its new Managing Director.

Mr O’Regan Kenny took part in Patch in 2020 and at the age of 20 went on to found two successful businesses.

“Taking part in Patch was a key event in my life and through Patch, I met amazing people, who gave me the direction and confidence to pursue my ambitions,” Mr O’Regan Kenny said.

“This year, we will run our largest programme yet, with 36 participants, and bring the cohort to Belfast and London, immersing them in inspiring new environments,” he added.
